The 605 runs up the San Gabriel River from Seal Beach and ends at the 210 in Irwindale, and its last seven miles through Industry, Baldwin Park and Irwindale are the ones we handle: the 60 and 10 interchanges, the gravel-truck traffic, and a rehabilitation project that has kept lanes shifting for years. Morales Law Firm is in San Dimas. Free consultation. No fee unless we win. English and Spanish.
The 605 follows the San Gabriel River channel north to its end at the 210.Each junction on the northern 605 has its own traffic, its own hazards and its own nearby hospital. Open the one closest to your crash.
Truck traffic between the ports, the 60 and the City of Industry warehouses concentrates here, and the Valley Boulevard exit feeds La Puente and Avocado Heights. Lane-change and truck-versus-car collisions on the connectors; the Sheriff’s Industry Station handles the surface streets. Queen of the Valley in West Covina is the nearest ER.
A short stretch with limited access along the river channel, where speeds pick up between interchanges. Sideswipes and single-vehicle crashes into the barrier. Unincorporated county territory: the Sheriff’s Industry Station for surface streets, and a county claim if a road condition is involved.
One of the busiest interchanges in the region, with connectors between the 10 and 605 that have been closed and rebuilt repeatedly. Rear-end and lane-change crashes in stop-and-go traffic, and the Ramona Boulevard and Arrow Highway exits feed the city’s main streets. Kaiser Baldwin Park is a mile away. See our 10 Freeway and Baldwin Park pages.
Irwindale’s quarries send loaded gravel and cement trucks onto the 605 and the 210 all day. Truck crashes here are commercial-vehicle cases with their own evidence rules. Irwindale PD handles the city streets; CHP handles the freeway.
Northbound 605 traffic must choose the 210 east or west, and the connector ramps are a frequent site of last-second lane changes and merge collisions. Traffic continuing north reaches Huntington Drive in Duarte. See our 210 Freeway page.
Caltrans is rehabilitating the whole freeway: new pavement and concrete slabs, more than 12,000 feet of guardrail, replaced sign structures, ramp and signal upgrades, in three segments. The northern segment from the 10 to the freeway’s end at the 210 was scheduled to finish in fall 2026; the segment from Telegraph Road to the 10 is scheduled into 2030. That means overnight closures, temporary barriers, narrowed lanes and detours through Baldwin Park and Irwindale for years. If a closure, a barrier, missing signage or a detour contributed to your crash, a claim against Caltrans or its contractor is possible, but the government claim must be filed within six months under Government Code section 911.2, and the work-zone configuration has to be documented before it changes. We obtain the closure schedule and traffic-control plan for the day through a Public Records Act request.
The 605 is a truck road. Between the ports, the 60, the Industry warehouses and the Irwindale quarries, a large share of what is on it is commercial, and a collision with a commercial vehicle is a different case from the first hour. The carrier’s insurer sends an investigator the same day because the case turns on evidence they control: the electronic logging device, engine data, the driver’s hours-of-service records and the forward-facing camera. That evidence is overwritten within weeks unless someone demands it be preserved. We send that demand immediately. See our truck accident page.
A ten-car chain at the 10/605 is not one crash. It is nine, and each one has to be proved.
The second difference is the interchanges. Stop-and-go traffic at the 10 and the 210 connectors produces chain collisions in which fault is divided among several drivers and the CHP report often declines to assign it. Our freeway pileup page explains how the sequence is proved with damage patterns, event data recorders and camera footage.
The at-fault driver, and their insurer, owe the full cost of the crash under California law: emergency and follow-up care, the months of therapy that follow most collisions, surgery and future treatment, lost wages and earning capacity, the vehicle and the rental, and compensation for pain, suffering and the loss of your ordinary life. Pure comparative negligence reduces a partly at-fault driver’s recovery by their share rather than barring it. Many drivers on the 605 carry California’s $30,000 minimum or nothing, so we open your own uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage on the first day whenever the injury may exceed the other driver’s policy.
Francisco Morales grew up in West Covina, a few miles from the 10/605, graduated from UCLA and Loyola Law School, and worked as a certified automotive service consultant before law school. He handles every case himself, in English or Spanish, and many of our Baldwin Park and La Puente clients handle theirs entirely in Spanish. More about Francisco, or return to the main car accident page.

From the 60 in Industry north through Avocado Heights, Baldwin Park and Irwindale to the 210, the CHP Baldwin Park Area office at 14039 Francisquito Ave., (626) 517-8500. South of the 60 the freeway passes into the CHP Santa Fe Springs and East Los Angeles areas. Surface-street crashes at the exits go to Baldwin Park PD, the Sheriff’s Industry Station or Irwindale PD.
Caltrans is rehabilitating the entire 605, about $298 million of pavement, guardrail, sign and ramp work in three segments. The northern segment, from the 10 to the freeway’s end at the 210, was scheduled to finish in fall 2026; the segment from Telegraph Road to the 10 runs into 2030. If a lane closure, temporary barrier or work-zone setup contributed to your crash, a claim against Caltrans or its contractor is possible, with a six-month government-claim deadline.
At the 210 on the Irwindale and Duarte line, with ramps continuing to Huntington Drive. Traffic that stays on the 605 northbound is forced onto the 210 east or west, and the connector ramps are a frequent site of merge and lane-change collisions.
The same California rules apply everywhere; what changes is the evidence. The 10/605 interchange in Baldwin Park has had construction closures and connector changes for years, so we obtain the Caltrans closure schedule and traffic-control plan for the day. CHP Baldwin Park writes the report.
In the Los Angeles Superior Court’s East District. For Baldwin Park and Irwindale crashes the West Covina Courthouse or the Pomona Courthouse South; for crashes near Industry and La Puente, the West Covina Courthouse. Most cases settle before a lawsuit is necessary.
Kaiser Permanente Baldwin Park, on Baldwin Park Boulevard a mile from the freeway, has a 24-hour emergency room. Queen of the Valley in West Covina and Inter-Community in Covina are close. Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center is the designated trauma center for serious injuries.
The 605 carries truck traffic between the ports, the 60 and the Irwindale industrial area, and the quarry and gravel trucks around Irwindale are a fixture. A truck case turns on evidence the carrier controls, so we send a preservation demand the same day. See our truck accident page.
Two years from the crash to file an injury lawsuit under Code of Civil Procedure section 335.1. Six months for a government claim if Caltrans, a county or a road condition is involved. Camera footage and truck data must be preserved within days.
Yes. Francisco Morales is fully bilingual and handles the entire case in Spanish when the client prefers. Many of our Baldwin Park and La Puente clients do.
